Junior to Watch- PK/P Nathan Franklin
5-11, 160 pounds, 4.65-seconds in the 40
Hoggard High School, Wilmington, NC
Two years ago Hoggard High School produced one of the state's top kickers in Connor Barth. Ironically, that school may boast one of 2005's top kickers in Nathan Franklin. Despite missing three games as a junior, Franklin still managed to connect on 7 of 10 FG's with a long of 47-yards. He put 90% of his kickoffs into the endzone for touchbacks and averaged 39 yards on 29 punts. Perhaps Franklin's most impressive accomplishment to date was his selection by kicking guru Chris Sailer as the No. 2 kicker and punter in the nation as well as being named the 2005 Chris Sailer national punting champion. With State in need of a kicker in the class of 2006, it's a safe bet the Pack will be keeping a close eye on Franklin in 2005.
Hoggard head coach Scott Brasswell- "Nathan has a powerful leg and tremendous potential to be a D-I kicker. If you look at Nathan, you see these skinny legs and you wonder how he makes the ball explode off his foot the way it does. He has really stepped up his work ethic and I think he will be the top kicker in the state next year and one of the best in the country."
What Franklin is looking for in a school- "good education, nice people, respectable football program, and somewhere where the coaches and teachers will look out for my best interests."

What Franklin likes about NC State- "I like the fact that it is a good school all around, starting with education and the football program. I also like that it is close to home and I have friends that go there."
