Shows Out In Jacksonville

Emmanuel Cook was a standout performer at last Sunday's Combine in Jacksonville, FL. It turns out one big time school has already taken notice of him as well and extended a scholarship offer. Who is it?

"I have an offer from Ole Miss. My top 4 schools are FSU, Miami, N.C. State and Ole Miss but my favorite school is FSU," Emmanuel Cook said.

Why are the Noles on top?

"That's been my favorite team since childhood. My parents really liked them. My mom was a big Charlie Ward fan."

What stands out about the other schools on his list?

Miami: "They send a lot of players to the pros."

N.C. State: "I have friends that go there like Willie Young and Dajuan Morgan."

Ole Miss: "That was my first offer."

What's most important to him in choosing a school?

"I'm looking at the education the most. I also want a good coaching staff and a chance to win a championship."

What goals has he set for himself in 2005?

"Last year I had 102 tackles, 23 for loss and 4 sacks. I'd like to get at least 125 tackles this season."

How would Emmanuel describe his strengths and weaknesses?

"I don't think I really have any weaknesses. I'm quick, fast, smart and I'm always on the ball."

How would he describe his experience at camp?

"I think I could have ran a better forty time. I thought the combine overall was very good though. It was better than the Nike Combine because we got more reps and all the players there were real good."

Combine Notes: Cook, who checked in at 5'9 and 200 pounds, was arguably the top linebacker in attendance at the Jacksonville Combine. He ripped off a 4.54-second 40-yard dash and posted a 36-inch vertical jump, both top marks for the position.
