Coach Sendek is finalist For Naismith Award

NC State's winning season is causing some national recognition come the Pack's way. The latest being for Coach Sendek. He has been recognized as one of 25 finalist for Coach of the Year.

RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State men's basketball coach Herb Sendek has been named a finalist for the Naismith College Basketball Coach of the Year Award, presented annually by the Atlanta Tipoff Club.

Sendek, whose Wolfpack has compiled a 19-7 record heading into an Atlantic Coast Conference game tonight at Georgia Tech, is one of five ACC coaches who made the Tipoff Club's list of 25 finalists, which was announced by Tipoff Club president Jackie Bradford. In addition to Sendek, Wake Forest's Skip Prosser, Duke's Mike Krzyzewski, Maryland's Gary Williams and Virginia's Pete Gillen were among the finalists.

The Naismith College Basketball Coach of the Year Award will be presented on April 5, 2002, at the Cobb Galleria Centre in Atlanta, Ga.
