Junior to Watch- Safety Travis Brake

5-10, 205 pounds, 4.6-seconds in the 40-yard dash

Northern Nash High School, Nashville, NC

Safety/Running Back Travis Brake was one of the few bright spots for a Northern Nash squad that struggled mightily in 2004. He finished off the year with 80 tackles and nearly 700 yards rushing en route to all-area honors. As a sophomore, Brake rushed for 730 yards and averaged nearly six yards per carry. The rising senior performed well at the Scout.com combine held at Duke University. He had a 4.34-second short shuttle and 31-inch vertical leap. At the Elite 8 combine held in March, Brake was timed at 4.63-seconds in the 40-yard dash and bench pressed 23 reps of 185 pounds.

What Brake is looking for in a school- "I'm looking for a good academic program, a good player-coach relationship and a well known program."

What Brake likes about NC State- "State is close to home and I like the campus. I really like coach Portee and coach Diaz."
