Sendek Announces Staff Changes

NC State head men's basketball coach Herb Sendek has announced several position moves on his coaching staff.

Larry Harris, a 20-year coaching veteran, has been named Associate Head Coach. Harris came to NC State with Sendek as an assistant coach prior to the 1996-97 season after stints at Washington State, Oregon State and Duquesne. The 1978 Pittsburgh graduate once ranked as that school's all-time leading scorer.

Mark Phelps, who has spent the last five years as an assistant coach for the Wolfpack, has been named Director of Scouting and Recruiting Coordinator. Phelps also came to NC State with Sendek in 1996, serving as the Director of Basketball Operations for four seasons before moving into the coaching position. A 1996 graduate of Old Dominion, Phelps was a successful high school coach in Virginia before joining Sendek.

Former Wolfpack point guard Archie Miller, who spent last season as the Director of Basketball Operations for NC State, has been named an assistant coach. Miller, who played point guard for the Pack from 1998-2002, still ranks second in NC State history with 218 career three-pointers, while his .428 three-point percentage ranks ninth in ACC history. Miller graduated from NC State in 2002 and spent a season coaching at Western Kentucky before coming back to Raleigh prior to last season.

Taking Miller's place as the Director of Operations will be Greg Morland, who has spent the last three campaigns as the Video Coordinator for the Wolfpack program. A 1987 graduate of Muskingum College, Morland has served on the coaching staffs at his alma mater, as well as at Ohio Dominican University, Tiffin University and Cory-Rawson High School.

"All of these coaches have been instrumental in NC State's success in the past," said Sendek. "They are hard working and committed individuals and I am very happy that we are going to be able to maintain continuity on our staff."
