A few people give their assessment of NC State's latest commitment's game:
"Larry Davis is the guy NC State targeted last fall and followed through with a strong commitment last weekend. He's one of those kids who wants to have the basketball in his hands at crunchtime and is a confident perimeter player. One of the interesting notes about his commitment is that it strengthens NC State in New York, a big time hotbed that has been really good to the Pack in the last five years." Scout.com's National Recruiting Director Dave Telep
"Larry has a very smooth style of play. He has grown tremendously in his ability to take over a ballgame with his offensive skills. Because he plays in the best high school league in the country, the NYC Catholic League, Davis faces challenges every night during the season. The competition of this league has only increased Davis' skills and made him a better player.
"Davis has also been very effective in challenging his defender with his dribble and getting to the paint area. He has improved his short jumper and he has a good eye in finding his big bodies inside for lay ins. As he stated in his press conference, he will fit in nicely with the North Carolina State offense." -- Recruiting Analyst Mike Sullivan
"Larry's a prototypical guard. He's more of a wing guard than a point guard. He's very cerebral. He has a great feel for the game. His strongest aspect is his offensive game. He shoots the ball really well and can create shots for himself. He's a great leader and one of the most sound, fundamental players we've had come through our program in years." -- Christ The King head coach Bob Oliva
"He's a great, great kid and an outstanding student. He's as good a shooter as there's been in New York City in the last few years. I don't think the people in the city know how good he is because he plays on such a well-balanced, structured team, but he had a chance to really show his talent in the IS8 Tournament where he played outstanding.
"You know who he reminds me of? He reminds me of a younger, smaller Allen Houston. I don't know if he'll get 6'5 or 6'6, but that's who he reminds me of. He's tough and he's putting it on the floor now and increasing his scoring ability even more, but he can really shoot it. He's going to be very, very good at NC State." -- Cardozo High School head coach Ron Naclerio
"Larry's a combo guard who shoots the three, but he really sees the floor. He's always thinking two or three plays ahead.
"He's a throwback. At the end of the day he gets the job done and he's a great leader on the floor. Everybody plays off him and follows his lead." -- Team Odom head coach Artie Cox
"He's a very complete player. I think Larry's a smart player, and he has a complete game. His mid-range game is on point. That's what I like best about his game." -- Bronx (NY) Rice HS Point Guard Edgar Sosa
"I'm a player that can play all three positions. I can play any of them and my thing is shooting. Coaches say I can shoot the ball and make my teammates better with my passing.
"I just want to get on the court when I go to college and play. It doesn't matter what position. I can play all three spots well enough to play early." -- Larry Davis
