Crouch Makes The Grade

Fayetteville (NC) E.E. Smith offensive lineman Curtis Crouch knew he only had a few chances left to achieve a qualifying test score for admission to NC State in 2005.

Just as he was preparing for his next SAT attempt, Crouch received the news he had been waiting for.

"I just got the score I needed on June 4th," Curtis Crouch told Pack Pride. "It was actually around the day I was suppose to take the SAT again.

"I knew I was getting down to only having a few more tries so I just started focusing because it had to get done so I could be in Raleigh."

Now knowing that he will be heading to NC State in a few weeks and not having to prep at Hargrave Military Academy, Crouch and his family were ecstatic to receive the big news.

"Everybody around here is excited about it," he said. "It was around the time when I graduated too so I really have a lot of things to be happy about right now."

The 6-foot-6, 320-pound offensive tackle prospect who was a consensus top-10 in-state prospect in the '05 class is preparing for his next move.

"I'm suppose to move up to Raleigh around July 5th for the second summer session," Crouch said. "Then I'll get to start some workouts and college classes."

Crouch hopes to play as a true freshman, but understands that a year redshirting to improve his conditioning and frame could also serve him well.

"The coaches have talked about me playing early," he said. "They need help on the offensive line, and I'm hoping that I can be some help. If not I'll be looking forward to redshirting.

"I'm just ready to play with the Wolfpack."

Quotables: "I'm a good blocker and I have a really good speed burst through the line. I have great vision and awareness and a great rip move. I want to improve my 40 time and stamina. I also want to imrprove my footwork and agility. I like OT the most because I like providing a hole for my RB." -- Curtis Crouch
