Young has already accrued close to a dozen scholarship offers, including one from NC State, and is considered one of the top linemen in Florida.
At 6-foot-5 and 320-pounds, he has the versatility to play guard or tackle. Does Young have a preference?
"I think I'm more comfortable at guard," he said. "I played more at tackle as a sophomore than I did as a junior but really, I can play either.
"Really, the only goal I've ever had was to play college football. It seems like I'm on the right track so I've just got to make sure I keep the grades so I can play."
He's already secured scholarship offers from Florida State, Georgia Tech, Connecticut, NC State, South Carolina, Louisville, Missouri, San Diego, Houston and South Florida. At this point his top five includes the big three Florida schools and two other rising programs. "My top five is Florida State, Florida, Miami, South Carolina and NC State," Young said.
Young spoke briefly about two of his favorites, Miami and Florida State.
"I talked to coach Kehoe the [Miami] offensive line coach a couple of weeks ago. I didn't realize they had picked up five or six linemen last year so that's a consideration with them.
"I'm a Florida State fan, too. Coach Dickey called up and they were actually the first school to offer me. They only signed a couple of linemen last year so I know they need some this year."
What does he like about the Wolfpack?
"I like the way they've kept in contact with me with letters," Young said. "The recruiting coach actually came down in May and I've had a chance to talk to him. I know they have a good program. We had a guy from CCC go to State a couple years ago, Lerue Rumph and I know Jay Davis but I didn't get to play with him. Since State is one of my top five schools, I want to go up there for a visit and see what they have to offer."
