Pack Pride's N.C. Top-50 Rankings: #21-30

With the spring and summer camps and combines now in the rear view mirror, Pack Pride has evaluated dozens of in-state prospects and formulated our initial top 50 listing which we will be debuting this week. Today we highlight picks 21-30.

  • Top 50 Rankings: #41-50

  • Top 50 Rankings: #31-40

    30. FB/LB Devven Sutton...6-1, 240 pounds, 4.6 in the 40...Northeastern High School...Elizabeth City, NC

Offers...Virginia Tech...Schools...Virginia Tech, Ohio State, Penn State, UNC, Duke and Maryland...Leader...Ohio State

Notes...Sutton has a great frame but his speed may be a slight concern. Could play LB, FB or even DE. Last season he had 112 tackles and three sacks. Prefers offense over defense.

NC State connection...The Pack doesn't appear to be heavily involved at this point.

    29. TE Ryan Taylor...6-4, 207 pounds, 4.59 in the 40 (combine timed)...Mt Tabor High School, Winston-Salem, NC

Offers...UNC, Wake Forest, Vanderbilt...Schools...Committed to UNC on June 22

Notes...Taylor is a player that we came away very impressed with after seeing him at the Shrine Bowl Combine at Ragsdale. Has a good combination of size, speed and athleticism. Likely to play HB for the Heels.

NC State connection...NC State was not heavily involved

    28. LB Terry Adams...5-11, 215 pounds, 4.84 seconds in the 40 (combine timed)...Elkin (NC) High School

Offers...None...Schools...UNC, Tennessee, Virginia Tech, NC State, Virginia...Leader...Perhaps UNC

Notes...Early on, Adams appeared to be a potential top 10 in-state selection but concerns over speed and the fact he lines up as a DT could hinder division one interest. Almost certainly a MLB prospect for college, Adams will likely need a big senior season to garner more interest.

NC State connection...The Pack is recruiting but has not officially offered as was reported by some outlets.

    27. P/PK Nathan Franklin...5-11, 160 pounds, 4.65 in the 40...Hoggard High School, Wilmington, NC

Offers...NC State and UTEP...Schools...Committed to NC State on July 26

Notes...As good as he is currently, many think Franklin has a world of upside. Has a powerful leg but most impressive is his consistency hitting the ball. Rarely shanks a kick. Very solid punter as well. Once he gets stronger and more experienced could become a huge factor for the Pack's special teams.

    NC State connection....Verbal commitment

    26. S Alex Frye...6-3, 183 pounds, 4.62 seconds in the 40...Jack Britt High School, Fayetteville, NC

Offers...Virginia, Wake Forest and East Carolina...Schools...UNC, Maryland, Virginia Tech, Tennessee and Wake Forest...Leader...UNC

Notes...Solid prospect with a long frame and decent speed that probably projects at Safety on the next level. Speed may be somewhat of an issue but Frye was extremely active on defense last year- reportedly hauling in seven interceptions.

NC State connection...The Pack doesn't appear to be heavily involved.

    25. CB Kendric Burney...5-9, 170 pounds, 4.57 in the 40 (combine timed) SW Onslow High School, Jacksonville, NC

Offers...UNC, East Carolina and Duke...Schools...Committed to UNC on May 10

Notes...Burney is a talented athlete that has helped SW Onslow to back to back state championships. He has been impressive whether it be on offense or defense but is likely to play CB at UNC. Burney is a player that won't necessarily impress at combines but is quite impressive once the lights come on Friday nights.

NC State connection...The Pack recruited Burney but never offered.

    24.ATH Bruce Carter...6-3, 200 pounds, 4.5 in the 40...Havelock (NC) High School

Offers...UNC...Schools...Committed to UNC on May 18

Notes...Extremely versatile athlete that could play RB, LB or S. May start as a safety at UNC but could grow into an outside linebacker. Has a solid frame and impressive athleticism to match.

NC State connection...NC State did not heavily pursue Carter.

    23. TE Dennis Godfrey...6-2, 252 pounds, 5.05 in the 40 (combine timed)...Lee County High School, Sanford, NC

Offers...UNC, Wake Forest, East Carolina...Schools...Committed to Wake Forest on June 20

Notes...Godfrey is a solid TE prospect that was impressive at the Shrine Bowl combine held at UNC earlier this year. He has a great frame and solid hands and should develop into a fine player for Wake Forest head coach Jim Grobe.

NC State connection...The Pack evaluated Godfrey but never offered.

    22. TE Vince Jacobs...6-6, 210 pounds, 4.75 in the 40 (combine timed)...Providence Day, Charlotte, NC

Offers...UNC, Wake Forest, Clemson, Vanderbilt, Georgia Tech and Virginia...Schools...Committed to UNC on July 19

Notes....Jacobs may have been one of the hottest prospects over the summer, accruing offers from nearly every school he camped with. Will need to gain quite a bit of weight and maintain his speed but numerous colleges were obviously impressed with his potential.

NC State connection...Jacobs camped at NC State but the Pack decided not to offer.

    21. ATH Shaun Draughn...6-0, 193 pounds, 4.52 in the 40 (combine timed)...Tarboro (NC) High School

Offers...UNC and East Carolina...Schools...Committed to UNC on June 16

Notes...Impressive on film, Draughn certainly has the potential to move up this list. He may be the best of the recruits committed to UNC currently minus Deunta Williams. Versatile athlete that could play offense, defense or special teams. Plays extremely tough and could make a super strong safety or linebacker should he put on the needed bulk.

NC State connection...NC State was not heavily involved
