The Continental Basketball Association announced today that Rockford Lightning forward Kenneth Inge was named 2002 Rookie of the Year and to the CBA All-Rookie Team. Also earning All-Rookie honors were Dakota Wizards center Ken Johnson, Saskatchewan Hawks forward Sean Lampley, Flint Fuze guard DeSean Hadley and Dakota forward Shawn Daniels.
The 6-8 Inge of North Carolina State joined the team on December 20 after having spent last fall with Zalgiris of the Lithuanian Basketball League. He posted 9.3 points and 5.6 rebounds off the bench for the Lightning. Inge averaged 20.3 points on 28-50 shooting from the field (.560) and 10 rebounds in leading the Lightning to a 3-1 mark and earning Player of the Week honors for the period of February. 17-23. He posted a game-high 30 points to go along with his 10 rebounds in a 93-67 victory over Grand Rapids on Feb. 17, .
