Michael Hinton recently returned from camping at NC State and told TSW about his time there in our latest interview. "I had a great time. Camp was very educational and I enjoyed working with maybe my future coaches. While down there the coaches talked to me one on one and made it alot of fun," Hinton said. As for whether or not he has made a college decision, Michael added "I still think I will commit to a school at the end of the summer." Michael also told TSW that he has officially been offered a scholarship by the NC State coaches.

After rumors hit the internet message boards that Michael Hinton had indeed committed to NC State, I decided to contact Michael to get his story. "I have not committed to NC State! A lot of people have asked me what my favorite school is and I say NC State. I have been offered by UVA, West Virginia, ECU, Elon, and Ohio University." Michael hopes to make a decision by the end of summer.

While Michael Hinton and Michael Mason enjoyed locking horns in the Nike camp, they may get a chance to do more than that on the college level. As stated, Mason is currently a verbal commitment to UNC, but Hinton has a vastly different leader right now. "NC State is my favorite team right now. I also like Tennessee, Florida, Michigan, and Virginia. I'll probably be camping at NC State, Elon, and Clemson this summer as well."

Scouting Report - April 16, 2002: (Philip Pasternak TSW Staff)
Michael Hinton is one of the top Defensive Backs in North Carolina. At the recent Nike Camp in Chapel Hill, the preseason All-American impressed onlookers and more than held his own against some of the top receivers in the state. During his senior season at Cummings, Hinton recorded 89 tackles and 9 interceptions. His efforts helped lead Cummings to the 2A state championship game before eventually falling to Clinton. Hinton is looking forward to having even more success next year at his new school, Hargrave Military Academy. "I'm just going to go up there and try my hardest to help the team win. I'll do whatever it takes to help the team win a championship."
All the awards and incredible play have not gone unnoticed. Some of the schools most actively recruiting Hinton are Virginia, Wake Forest, Clemson, NC State, Florida, Michigan, and East Carolina. Hinton doesn't really have one favorite, but feels sure his final decision will be one of two schools. "Right now I believe my final decision is going to be between Florida and NC State. Those are my two top schools."
When asked what he liked most about NC State, Hinton responded, "I love the coaching staff and the school itself is headed towards big things. I was down at the Red-White game and really had a great time."
