NC State Close To Offering?

DURHAM, N.C. --- Although it's hard to take anything away from Durham Riverside's performance Friday night, Durham Hillside didn't help their cause in their 22-6 loss to their cross-town rivals with turnovers.

"We can't make four turnovers and expect to win the game," said Greg Little. "Our defense seems to bounce back. It's not a problem for them to stop a team, but every time we turn it over we put them in bad field position."

Little, a 6-foot-3, 205-pound junior, is Hillside's featured offensive weapon used primarily as a tailback but also doubles at wide receiver. His two fumbles Friday night contributed to Hillsides woes.

"I need to put two hands on the ball when I'm still in the box or in a crowd," said Little. "And when I feel somebody tugging on the ball I need to clamp down on it better."

Even with putting the fumbles aside, Little had an uncharacteristically mediocre night on the ground being kept out of the end zone, while rushing for just 79 yards on 20 carries. He did, however, pull in four passes for 66 yards – with the majority of the catches coming late in the fourth quarter.

"Individually, I felt like I could have stepped it up," said Little. "As far as yards, I don't limit myself – I'm trying to get a thousand yards every time I touch the field."

With his size and athletic ability, Little is considered one of the top recruits for the class of 2007. He received his first offer from Duke on September 1st and has since seen the attention increase.

"I've been getting new interest from Tennessee, Florida State, [and] Notre Dame lately has been coming on hard," said Little. "So far Duke is my only offer, but I'm thinking [North] Carolina and N.C. State are pretty close [to offering]."

With over a year and a half until his Signing Day, "everybody is pretty even" in Little's mind regarding favorites.

However, Little hasn't shied away from taking unofficial visits. He attended the N.C. State-Virginia Tech game in Raleigh and plans on heading to Charlottesville for the Virginia-Florida State game on October 15th.

Halfway through his junior season, Little has rushed for 569 yards and six touchdowns on 107 carries. He also has recorded nine receptions for another 136 yards and a touchdown.
