Pack Prospects In Action

Pack Pride takes a look at how several of NC State's top recruiting prospects fared in action from last week's game.

- NC State kicker commitment Nathan Franklin kicked four extra points and was one of two on field goals, hitting a 20-yarder and missing a 48-yarder. He also had two punts downed inside the 10-yard line.

- Southern Durham quarterback Kevin Atkins made several key plays, finishing with 114 yards rushing and 168 yards passing in a win over previously unbeaten Person High School.

- Cary's Josh Adams rushed 11 times for 146 yards and three touchdowns as the Imps crushed Green Hope.

- NC State verbal quarterback Justin Burke threw for 269 yards and six touchdowns in a blowout win over Bourbon County.

- LaMarcus Bond from Hertford County had a huge night this past week. Lining up as quarterback on offense, Bond rushed 18 times for 195 yards and two scores. On defense he collected his fifth interception of the year and opened up the game with a 67-yard kickoff return that set up Hertford's first score.

- In a makeup game played last Monday, Randleman tailback Dion McNair had an 86 yard kickoff return for a score and rushed for 123 yards on 26 attempts and three additional scores.

- College of the Sequoias quarterback Brent Schaeffer threw for 233 yards despite a hip injury in a win over Fresno City College.

- Matawan (NJ) wideout Jason Simmons had a 17 yard TD reception in a win.

- Lake Taylor wide receiver Santonyo Jones had a 14 yard TD reception but his team lost their first game of the season.

- Vance wide receiver Justin Byers is a junior being recruited by NC State and he was recognized by the Charlotte Observers as that area's 4A player of the week. Byers scored three times in a win over Concord Robinson High School. He had a 36-yard touchdown reception, a 78-yard punt return for a score and a 95-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown.

- Nease WR Ryan Ellis had five receptions for 147 yards and three touchdowns in a win over Ridgeview.
