The last wide receiver NC State snagged from Hargrave Military Academy was Torry Holt. Holt went on to establish himself as the greatest wideout in the history of Wolfpack football. While comparing current Hargrave receiver Tim Jones to Holt is quite a stretch, the Pack has taken a keen interest in the prep standout and would like nothing more than to see him make his mark in Raleigh next season.
At 6-5, 210 pounds, Jones is originally from Pendleton High School in Anderson, SC where he starred as a QB and was named to the South Carolina North-South all-star game. Although he received scant recruiting attention as a senior in high school, Jones has made quite a name for himself in tiny Chatham, Va. He has doubled as a WR and spent some time at QB as well. His potential has reportedly lead to heavy interest by NC State as well as an offer from an SEC school this past week.
Pack Pride recently caught up with Hargrave WR and QB coach Ryan Sulkowski for the latest.
"Tim is a great athlete who has been playing QB for us. He is the most natural receiver that I have ever seen. He has great hands and a is very big target. South Carolina was in last Friday and has made an offer. It's hard to find a receiver with that type of size and ability and now the ACC and SEC schools are swarming."
Jones should qualify academically. Stay tuned as Pack Pride will have more on Jones in the near future.
