Scouting Report: (Spencer Cagle * Deacon Sports)
Richmond Virginia's Vern Hamilton is a two-sport star attending Benedictine High School. Vern is a gifted athlete, excelling on the basketball court, the football field, and in the classroom.

On the court, "Vern is a 6'0" point guard with explosive quickness, great court vision, and expert ball-handling," his coach Bruce Croxton said. This past season, Vern averaged 15.8 points per game while dishing out six assists and pulling down 4.8 rebounds per contest.

Wake Forest, NC State, Tennessee, Maryland, UConn and many many others are schools on Vern's list for basketball. He is being highly recruited for football, as well. In fact, Doug Doughty from the Roanoke Times lists Vern, a wide receiver, as the 7th best football prospect in Virginia.

However, there is more to this kid than just athletics, as his basketball coach notes. "The great thing about Vernon is that he is every bit as good a person as he is an athlete. Someone is going to get a quality guy who works hard and has a respect for people and the game."
