School: Ahoskie (NC) Hertford County High School
Strengths: Bond's a playmaker, it's that simple. Get the ball in his hands, and he will make plays. He lined up at running back, slot back, kick returner, and cornerback for Hertford County and his explosiveness allowed him to excel at every position. He's shifty, quick and has a tremendous burst that can set him apart from other players. His ability to cut on a dime and change directions is probably the best in the state.
Bond has offers from Virginia Tech, Michigan State, NC State, North Carolina, and Clemson among others. He projects as a slot receiver on the next level and his skill set is comparable to Wolfpack wide receiver Tramain Hall and former Miami Hurricane Roscoe Parrish. Some say he would be a terrific college corner, but Bond is too good with the ball in his hands to not play offense.
Stats: Last season Bond played slotback – a hybrid tailback/receiver position in the flexbone offense – for Hertford County. The position highlighted his ability as a runner and a receiver allowing Bond to rush for 922 yards and 18 touchdowns on 100 rushes, and catch 16 passes for 394 yards and five touchdowns. He also added 6 more touchdowns on special teams. Bond's statistics helped lead Hertford County to a 9-6 record as he earned all-conference and all-state honors. He was also named Conference player of the year.
Bond Quotable: "I just like to make plays. Colleges are recruiting me at wide receiver, and that's where I want to play. I want the ball in my hands."
Coach's Comment: "He can do just about anything. He's very dangerous when he gets the ball in his hands, he catches really well, he's an excellent return guy, but his open field running ability might be the best that I've ever seen. He's very elusive, and has great change of direction." -- Hertford County Head Coach Greg Watford
