Pack Pride Rating Legend

100- Verbal Commitment

95-99 NCS Lean

90-94 NCS in top 2 or 3

85-89 NCS in top 5 or 6

75-84 NCS has work to do

1. iii DT Gavin Smith....6-4, 270 pounds, 4.9/40...Wakefield (NC) HS

Rating...100...NCS Recruiter...Stroud...Offers...NCS

Notes...Smith was NC State's first commit for the class of 2006. Recruited as a DT by NCS. Was scheduled to camp at Duke, UNC and Ohio State over the summer but has stayed firm in his pledge to the Wolfpack.

2. iii PK Nathan Franklin...5-11, 160 pounds, 4.6/40...Hoggard HS, Wilmington, NC

Rating...100...NCS Recruiter...Williams...Offers...NCS, UTEP

Notes...Small player but powerful leg. Was offered by the Pack after camp and committed shortly thereafter. Scouts believe he has tremendous amount of upside.

3. iii PK Josh Czajkowski...5-10, 185 pounds...W Springfield HS, Springfield, Va

Rating...100...NCS Recruiter...Portee...Offers...NCS

Notes...Another player that impressed enough at camp to earn an offer. Has a LB's mentality playing kicker. Strongest attribute is ability to stay cool under pressure.

4. i i i i QB Justin Burke...6-2, 195 pounds, 4.7/40...Lexington (Ky) Catholic HS

Rating...100...NCS Recruiter...Trestman...Offers...NCS, LOU, UK, TENN, NW, PUR

Notes...One of just 4 offered QB's on the Pack's board. Burke is considered a huge get for the Pack and will now give them a marquee name to show to WR prospects. Coach Trestman was key in swaying Burke to Raleigh.

5. i i i ATH DeAndre Morgan...5-10, 160 pounds, 4.4/40...Suncoast HS, Riviera Beach, Fla

Rating...100...NCS Recruiter...Stroud....Offers...NCS, OM, WVU, SYR, CLEM, VANDY, RUT, USF

Notes...As things stand now, the Pack should be in fine shape to land Morgan later in the year. The fly in the ointment could be whether or not Miami decides to offer. Should the Canes do so, that could create an interesting battle. Morgan may get a shot at WR but may be a better college prospect at CB- only time will tell...Sept 19 Update...Says he will officially visit OM, WVU and WF. If State has to compete against those three schools, we feel very good about our chances. An offer from any of the Big 3 would certainly complicate things. Update Morgan committed to NC State on Oct 11.

6. i i i WR Owen Spencer...6-2, 165 pounds, 4.45/40...N Brunswick HS, Leland, NC

Rating...100...NCS Recruiter...Williams...Offers...NCS, VT

Notes...NCS was first to offer and leads over VT. Some feel it is just a matter of time before Spencer commits to the Wolfpack. Although slightly built now, Spencer is probably the best true WR in the state this year. Should be on hand for VT game. Update...Sept 19.....Spencer still lists NC State as his leader after making an unofficial visit to State for the VT game. Will likely take a trip to VT prior to making a decision but we still feel very good about Spencer. Also visited for the EKU game...Update....Committed to NC State on Oct 25

7. i i LB Nate Irving...6-3, 210 pounds, 4.65/40...Wallace-Rose Hill HS, Teachey, NC

Rating...100....NCS Recruiter...Dixon...Offers...NCS, ECU

Notes....Irving has been overlooked for much of 2005 but has had a big senior season and plays for one of the top high school programs in the state. Irving is not a five star athlete but he is a super football player. Wants to become a Vet and seems set on that so it's unlikely that he'll consider any program that doesn't offer his major. Really likes NC State and we think, as things stand now, the Pack will get him....Update...Committed to NC State on Oct 28

8. i i i WR/ATH LaMarcus Bond...5-8, 175 pounds, 4.4/40...Hertford County HS, Ahoskie, NC

Rating...Last Update...96...New Update...97...NCS Recruiter...Diaz...Offers...NCS, UVA, VT, CLEM, USC, ECU

Notes...Another fantastic athlete that has been compared favorably to Tramain Hall. Appeared to be an NCS lean early on but has backed off of naming favorites recently. However, we feel State is very near the top of Bond's list. Should be on hand for VT game. Sept 19 Update....Attended VT game and, although he has shied away from naming leaders, we continue to feel very good about the Pack's chances. It appears likely he will take official visits before making a decision....Nov 1 Update....Nothing major has changed with Bond although VT doesn't seem to be pressing as hard while UVA has dramatically increased the pressure. Our sources continue to feel that NC State is the team to beat. Will visit Hokies for MIA game.

9. i i i DT Geno Atkins...6-2, 250 pounds, 4.6/40...St Thomas Aquinas HS, Ft Lauderdale, Fla

Rating...94...NCS Recruiter...Stroud...Offers...NCS, PITT, USF, TOL, ISU, VANDY, C MICH

Notes...Atkins is a new name that State has turned up the heat on recently. Atkins was a LB last year that has moved to DT for one of Florida's top prep programs. The Pack currently leads and we believe you'll be hearing much, much more about Atkins over the coming months.

10.i i i WR Melvin Patterson...6-3, 205 pounds, 4.5/40...Santa Fe HS, Alachua, Fla

Rating...94....NCS Recruiter....Dixon....Offers....NCS, FLA

Notes...WR prospect whose offer count would likely be much higher were it not for season-ending injury. This situation appears to possibly be another Rumph/Morgan scenario where the Pack stood by a player despite injury. Scheduled for OV to NCS in January. FLA will probably be biggest com if they stand behind offer. Coach Dixon is a huge plus for NC State.

11. i i i TE Andy Miller...6-6, 250 pounds, 4.8/40...Trinity HS, Washington, Pa

Rating...93 (New Entry)...NCS Recruiter...Curt Cignetti....Offers...NCS, IND, ILL, MAR, NW

Notes....Solid prospect with good frame that could grow into an OL down the road. Pack has been on Miller hot and heavy for quite a while. It appears IND is the toughest competition minus an offer from Pittsburgh or Penn State. West Virginia is a darkhorse school as well.

12. i i i LB John Ware...5-11, 205 pounds, 4.5/40...Cardinal Gibbons HS, Ft Lauderdale, Fla

Rating...93 (New Entry)...NCS recruiter...Stroud...Offers...NCS, OM, CSU, RUT, AKR

Notes...Ware is a new name on the radar. Played with current QB Mike Greco last year. We like that he has already officially visited OM and we think the Pack could move into the lead later in the year. Plays as RB primarily in HS but could play SS or OLB for NCS. We like State's chances here.

13. i i i LB Emmanuel Cook...5-9, 200 pounds, 4.54/40...Palm Beach Gardens (Fla) HS

Rating...93...NCS Recruiter...Stroud...Offers...10+

Notes...The Pack doesn't shy away from under-sized LB's and Cook fits that mold perfectly. Despite having prototypical size, there are few LB's in S Florida more productive. NCS offered early and looks to be solidly in Cook's top five along with UNC, RUT, USC & OM....Sept 19 Update...State has emerged in Cook's top three along with South Carolina and Rutgers. Will definitely make official visit to NCS, likely in December....Nov 1 Update...Officially visited OM and the Rebels currently lead. As things stand now, we think the Pack will give them their toughest competition and could overtake them with an official visit later this year.

14. i i i WR Jason Simmons...6-6, 200 pounds, 4.65/40...Matawan HS, Aberdeen, NJ

Rating...92...NCS Recruiter...Barry...Offers...LOU, NCS

Notes...NCS and LOU are only offers and those two appear to be at the top. Simmons also hopes to play basketball in college. The Pack looks solid to get an official visit later in the year. Should Simmons commit to the Pack, he would be State's first commitment from NJ under Amato.

15. i i i TE John Lubischer...6-4, 250 pounds, 4.7/40...Boca Raton (Fla) HS

Rating....92...NCS Recruiter...Stroud...Offers...Duke, NCS, RUT

Notes...Lubischer says he's favoring Duke and NC State. He unofficially visited State over the summer. One team to keep an eye on is Boston College should they offer. Will likely make official visit to State in December if he has not committed elsewhere.

16. i i i S Rico Bell....5-10, 180 pounds, 4.4/40...Vance HS, Charlotte, NC

Rating...92 ..NCS Recruiter...Portee...Offers...NCS, UVA, CLEM, UT, UNC, MD, BC

Notes...Bell camped at State but waited a while to offer which may have dropped them behind UVA and potentially Tennessee. The Pack should get an official visit and as things stand right now, we think it'll be a UVA-NCS battle when all is said and done. Bell has emerged as a major in-state prospect for the Pack.

17. i i i LB Chris Neild...6-3, 275 pounds, 4.75/40...Stroudsburg (Pa) High School

Rating...92...NCS Recruiter...Williams...Offers...NCS, UNC, GT, SYR, RUT, WVU, MD and UVA

Notes...Neild is a player that the Pack coaches reportedly love. Tough, nasty football player that gets after it. Coach Williams has done a great job of establishing Pack as the leader. Has flown completely under the radar despite receiving most of his offers last spring. Being recruited as a MLB for NCS. We would rate Neild higher but we know a PSU offer at any point could really complicate things. For now, Neild's top six consists of NCS, GT, UNC, SYR, WVU and UVA.....Nov 1 Update...It would appear that GT and NCS have a slight leg up on other schools. An offer from Penn State could erase that lead.

18. iii WR Johnny Patrick...6-0, 180 pounds, 4.4/40...Deland (Fla) High School

Rating...92...NCS Recruiter...Dixon...Offers...LOU, NCS,USC

Notes...Pack really turned up the heat in August, made an offer and now lead for Patrick. We feel great about where State stands currently. However, Patrick has been very inconsistent naming leaders so we're not so sure how safe NC State's lead really is. As things stand, we feel great about NCS getting an OV which is probably the main goal for now.

19.iii RB Travis McBride...6-0, 190 pounds, 4.5/40...McKeesport (Pa) HS

Rating...New Entry...92...NCS Recruiter...Cignetti...Offers...Close to a dozen

Notes....One of Pa's top RB's that could play multiple positions. NC State has really ramped up interest over the last several weeks and looks like a solid contender. West Virginia could likely pose a very stiff challenge. Unsure of what position State is looking at McBride for currently but he would likely be given his choice. Will likely hearing quite a bit more about McBride in the future.

20. i i i S Darin Baldwin...6-0, 170 pounds, 4.5/40...S Dade HS, Homestead, Fla

Rating...91...NCS Recruiter...Stroud...Offers...FLA, NCS, UGA, CLEM & others

Notes...Pack is solidly in Baldwin's top four but probably trails Florida and Miami in the early going. State does look solid for an official visit and their chances will hinge greatly on that visit and, most likely, what kind of season they have in 2005.

21. i i i DE Marcus Anthony....6-2, 251 pounds, 4.7/40...Patrick Henry HS, Ashland, Va

Rating...91...NCS Recruiter...Diaz...Offers...NCS, MARSH

Notes...NCS hosted Anthony for the VT game and to say the Pack blew him away would be an understatement. He quickly named NCS his top school and sounded very close to committing. However, we also know that the glitter can wear off of a visit so we're optimistic but not calling Anthony a Pack lock just yet. Grades could be a concern. UVA could be major player should they offer...Nov 1 Update...As we suspected, the glitter has worn off Anthony's visit to NC State. The Pack has gone from leading to being tied with VT, BC and UVA. Grades are holding schools back currently. If Anthony gets an offer from VT or UVA, the Pack could fall behind.

22. i i i i DT Adam Patterson...6-3, 255 pounds, 4.85/40...Richlands NE HS, Columbia, SC

Rating...91...NCS Recruiter...Portee...Offers...20+

Notes...Impossible to get a read on Patterson but State has been there since the beginning. South Carolina is probably a major force to be reckoned with. Other teams solidly in the race are OKL, VT and AUB. Patterson will likely be on hand for VT game and that initial impression could be huge for NCS...Sept 19 Update...Since the last update, Patterson narrowed his choices to two and then opened things back up. We feel State and USC are still at the top of the heap. A trip to UGA could definitely be huge for the Dawgs' chances, however. As things look right now, we still feel USC is clearly the team to beat. Likely to be on hand for UNC game.....Nov 1 Update....USC and NCS still top 2 but we think USC leads slightly. We think State may have dropped ever so slightly with TENN moving up.

23. i i i OL Hutch Eckerson...6-6, 270 pounds, 4.9/40...Lumberton (NC) High School

Rating...91 ...NCS Recruiter...Williams...Offers...NCS, VT, UVA, USC, UNC

Notes...Son for former Wolfpack player. Pack probably could have secured Eckerson early on but waited until later to offer which has allowed UVA and VT to take the lead. USC and UNC not likely to be a major factor. Hokies and Cavs have been putting on full court press and State will have to go all out now to land him.

24. i i i i WR Andrey Baskin...6-4, 200 pounds, 4.6/40...Woodrow Wilson HS, Camden, NJ

Rating...91...NCS Recruiter...Barry...Offers...20+

Notes...Baskin is a major target for the Pack at WR and looks to be solidly in his top four along with Syracuse, Tennessee and Ohio State. Baskin has talked about an official visit with NC State on the weekend of Sept 4th. However, it would be much more favorable for the Pack if he came for an unofficial visit for that game and made an official visit later in the year. Tennessee may be a slight, quiet leader currently but the Pack's need at WR could be a big draw...Sept 19 Update....Baskin did not officially visit which is probably a good thing. Pack would like to have that scheduled a little later in the year. TENN has emerged as Baskin's top school with the Pack right behind in our opinion.

25. i i i i RB Josh Adams...5-11, 170 pounds, 4.5/40...Cary (NC) HS

Rating...90...NCS Recruiter...Trestman?....Offers...NCS, UNC, VT, TENN, USC, OSU & others

Notes...It would have to be considered a huge longshot for NC State to land Adams as a TB, his preferred position. It is likely State will host Adams on several visits this year. Unfortunately, Adam's recruiting may boil down to which school can do the best job of selling what Adams wants to hear. We think he could contribute as a freshman at the slot position. It appears likely that Adams will stay within a geographic region of states that border NC. Any school within that area is a possibility. Will visit for VT game...Sept 19 Update...Adams visited for VT game and was observed signing numerous autographs for kids. Hard to get a solid read on Adams but we think State's in decent shape here, perhaps better than at earlier times.

Others to watch to potentially make official visits to NC State

i i i i S Darius Gaither...6-0, 200 pounds, 4.5/40...Fairfield Central HS, Winnsboro, SC

Rating......NCS Recruiter...Portee...Offers...NCS, USC, CLEM, VT, TENN, UNC & others

Notes....Gaither visited NC State for junior day and made an impression that has lasted for months. We feel the Pack is a major player and is in solid position for an official visit later in the year. Gaither is denying any faves although he listed the Pack at the top earlier in the year. May be on hand for UNC game....Nov 1 Update...Although he's stated several times he would visit NC State, Gaither has yet to make it to Raleigh. We can't say that State has slipped but it would appear UT, USC and CLEM have risen on his list. State has to get him on campus to have any real shot.

i i i LB Matt Wright...6-2, 210 pounds, 4.55/40...Phoebus HS, Hampton, Va

Rating......NCS Recruiter...Diaz...Offers...UVA, VT, NCS, MD, UNC, MSU, WVU & others

Notes...Wright is a major target for NCS at a position of critical need. Landing Wright would also give the Pack a presence in Hampton which is something they would desperately like to establish. Smart money appears to be on VT (brother plays for Hokies). However, we think NCS and UNC could be serious players. Will be on hand for VT game. Sept 19 Update....Wright had a great visit to State for the VT game and we feel confident that as things stand today, NCS and VT appear to be the top 2. Wright has told us that he knows VT has owned the Hampton area but he has also told us that he wouldn't mind blazing his own trail. This will be an interesting battle.....Nov 1 Update...VT likely leads with MSU, NCS and UVA likely to get official visits.

i i i i WR Greg Mathews...6-3, 190 pounds, 4.5/40...Edgewater HS, Orlando, Fla

Rating......NCS Recruiter...Dixon....Offers...NCS, OM, MICH, OSU, LSU & others

Notes...Currently, NC State is in Mathews top four but probably trails LSU, Michigan and Miami. We don't think Miami is a major option currently as Mathews told us he's not hearing much from the Canes. If their offer becomes solid, he'll likely stay in Miami. We think State is in line to get an official visit. Mathews was a teammate of current DE Quinton Brown....Nov 1 Update...Could be last update where Mathews is on this list

i i i i DT Aleric Mullins...6-3, 295 pounds, 4.9/40...E Wake HS, Wendell, NC

Rating.......NCS Recruiter...Stroud...Offers...12+

Notes...Early on, one E Wake coach told us he wouldn't be surprised to see Mullins end up at NC State. However, it seems as though State may have slipped some since that time and now, it's anyone's guess as to where he may end up. Oklahoma is a childhood fave and he had a very good camp at UNC. The Pack must make a good impression when they get him to a game this fall...Sept 19 Update...Nothing much has changed as Mullins is playing recruiting very close to the vest. He did visit for VT game, accompanied by his position coach. It is likely his head coach would accompany him on trips to UNC. Grades could be a concern

i i i DT Marcus Gilbert...6-6, 285 pounds, 5.0/40...St Thomas Aquinas HS, Ft Lauderdale, Fla

Rating......NCS Recruiter...Stroud....Offers...Better than a dozen

Notes...NCS appear to be solidly in Gilbert's top three along with Miami and Florida. Unfortunately, NCS has been down this road before where one of Florida's top OL listed the Pack prominently only to sign with one of the Big 3. Unlikely that will deter coach Stroud, however. Pack is recruiting as DT while most are recruiting as OL.

i i i WR Tim Jones....6-5, 210 pounds, 4.6/40....Hargrave Military Academy

Rating.....NCS recruiter...Cignetti...Offers...USC

Notes....Jones played QB in high school but projects as a WR in college. Has played some QB and a little WR at Hargrave. NCS and USC recently offered. NCS, UNC and USC comprise his top three. Made unofficial visit to State last year. We think South Carolina will pose the stiffest challenge. We don't think he's been officially offered just yet so we're not including him in the formal top 25 list for now.

i i i DE Audie Augustine...6-2, 230 pounds, 4.67/40...Northeast HS, Oakland Park, Fla

Notes...Pack has been on again, off again with Augustine. We feel pretty good about NC State getting an official visit. Augustine's top four list consists of FSU, AUB, NCS and OKL. FSU likely holds the upper hand and if they push, could be tough to land.

i i i S Greg Davis...6-2, 200 pounds, 4.5/40...Blue Ridge, Va

Notes...NCS has not been on Davis' radar until recently. He made a trip to State for the VT game and we think the Pack is a team that he will give serious consideration. UVA and VT are likely the team to beat but we know Davis did have a very enjoyable trip to State. He could be moving up this list in the coming weeks.

i i i i WR Kenny Britt...6-4, 190 pounds, 4.5/40...Bayonne (NJ) HS

Notes...We must admit, we know nothing about which schools Britt is considering. All we can tell you is that he is an elite wideout that State wants in the worst kind of way.

i i i OL James Boyd...6-3, 280 pounds, 4.8/40...Countryside HS, Clearwater, Fla

Notes...Pack is clearly in the race but will likely wait for grades to clear up before going full throttle. Could play DL as well.

i i i i S Tervaris Johnson...6-2, 210 pounds, 4.5/40...Monsignor Pace HS, Miami, Fla

Notes...Favors MIA and may already be a quiet verbal for the Canes. Should something happen and he not end up at MIA, NCS looks to be a very viable option.

i i i WR Darrell Davis...6-5, 195 pounds, 4.6/40...Pasco HS, Dade City, Fla

Notes...FSU, USC and USF lead over UNC and NCS. If State pushes, they should be able to secure an official visit. As things stand now, we're not completely sure of State's interest.

i i i i LB Brandon Spikes...6-4, 235 pounds, 4.65/40...Crest HS, Shelby, NC

Notes...Early on it appeared Spikes was all but signed, sealed and delivered to one of the traditional, out of state power programs. Schools like Miami, Texas, Florida, LSU and Oklahoma are certainly still a major threat but Spikes did appear to be more receptive to checking out the in-state programs, UNC and NC State, over the summer. The Pack has solid connections to Crest through the head coach and former players. However, a huge season may be the Pack's best recruiting tool. Scheduled to be on hand for VT game. Update Sept 19...Spikes visited for VT game but little is known about his top five. We haven't heard anything to suggest he should be in the Top 25 right now...Update Nov 1...Pack had apparently made up ground and has since fallen with Spikes after CLEM debacle. Money on VT as things stand now.

i i i LB Kevin Alexander...6-3, 210 pounds, 4.65/40...Union County HS, Lake Butler, Fla

Notes...Favors AUB over MD, UNC, TENN, LOU and NCS. Unless NCS picks it up, they may be on the outside looking in for an OV.

i i i WR Preston Parker...6-0, 180 pounds, 4.5/40...Atlantic HS, Delray Beach, Fla

Rating....NCS Recruiter...Stroud...Offers...NCS, UNC, RUT, PITT, LOU & others

Notes...Another talented Florida two-way standout being recruited as a S and WR. Speed may be a slight concern at WR so S may be ultimate destination. It's not clear which way State is recruiting him currently. He lists the big three, UNC, NCS, PITT and LOU as possible visit destinations.

i i i LB Orlando Farrow...6-3, 229 pounds, 4.6/40...Lackawanna JC Scranton, Pa

Rating....NCS Recruiter...Williams...Offers...NCS, KSU, MSU

Notes...Farrow's rating is based on potential and could go up or down. Coaches rave about his ability and he has a college-type body now. Cousin is Littleton Wright and Farrow has already made an unofficial visit to NC State. The Pack probably holds the upper hand currently according to Lackawanna head coach Mark Duda...Nov 1 Update....Farrow has been moved down list because he has not been offered.

i ii LB Alonzo McQueen....6-0, 200 pounds, 4.5/40...Robert E Lee HS, Jacksonville, Fla

Rating......NCS Recruiter...Dixon...Offers...NCS, CLEM, USF, USC, UCF, ILL, LOU, OM

Note....New name on the radar that could play LB or S on the next level. Pack has not had particularly good luck in the Jacksonville area but State looks solid for an official visit as things stand now. Toughest comp will likely be South Carolina.
