What's the best way to fluster 80,000 fans at once? Invite MTSU to town. Blue Raider football has put together a string of scares against BCS opponents over the last five years, and Saturday, coach Andy McCollum's squad hopes to finish the job with a non-conference game at North Carolina State. "We haven't (played well) in all of them, but our kids know what it's like to play in those tough road environments," McCollum said. It seems ridiculous at first thought to say the N.C. State basketball team could be better without Julius Hodge. A four-year starter and do-everything performer who was a first-round pick in the NBA draft, Hodge will go down as one of the best players ever to wear the red and white, a former ACC Player of the Year who ranks third (2,040 points) on the school's all-time scoring list. But he is the only significant loss off last year's late-developing 21-14 team that reached the Sweet 16 of the NCAA tournament.
