Once again, N.C. State had a lanky guy out of St. Raymond's High School patrolling the wing. Once again, he was filling up every relevant part of the stat sheet. This time though, it was Gavin Grant, not Julius Hodge. He didn't talk quite as much and he had a little bit more arc on his jumper, but the 6-foot-7 sophomore wing did a pretty good Hodge imitation in State's 91-61 season-opening win over Stetson in the Hispanic College Fund Classic. Wolfpack to make first step in two-game bowl push

North Carolina State scrambled to find an opponent in the spring after Temple dropped the Wolfpack from the schedule. Middle Tennessee State was happy to oblige, agreeing to come to Carter-Finley Stadium in what appeared to be just a quick fix. It would have been hard to believe in the preseason that the game could determine the Wolfpack's bowl future. Heading into Saturday's game against the Blue Raiders, the Wolfpack (4-5) needs to win its final two games to become bowl eligible. A loss Saturday or against Maryland next weekend means N.C. State would miss the postseason for the second straight year. Read More
