A Miami defensive back is receiving plenty of attention from several of his favorite schools, but NC State seems to have backed off in recent weeks.
Shannon Ballard, a 6-0, 170-pound defensive back from Norland High
School in Miami, FL, has received offers from Rutgers, UConn, Akron and Florida Atlantic.
"NC State was recruiting me pretty hard for a while, so I'm not
sure why they've backed off like they have," said Ballard. "It's still a school
that I would definitely consider choosing if they offer. I like the connection
they've built down here in Florida. I'm just not sure how interested they
are right now."
Other than the four schools that have offered Ballard is
hearing from Bowling Green, Auburn, South Florida, Central Florida, Florida International and Florida Atlantic.
"I'm being recruited by most schools
to play corner. I could play safety too, but my best position is cornerback. I'm
real good at finding the ball and making a play on it almost every time it's in
the air. I'm involved in just about every play out there, so I'm
Ballard isn't sure when he'll make his decision.
not something I think I'll plan," he said. "When I feel like a school is right
for me, that's when I'll commit. It could be tomorrow, next week or next month.
I want to take my visits, so that will play a role in when I decide, but I'm
really not sure right now.
