That hasn't stopped the recruiters from calling however and Melvin Patterson now says he's narrowed his list to a final pair.
"I've narrowed it down to North Carolina State and Florida. Florida is really the leader right now though and N.C. State is falling back just a little bit," Melvin Patterson said.
Patterson is very complimentary of both the Gators and the Wolfpack.
N.C. State: "It's a family program. Coach Dixon went to the same high school as me and he coached at Florida for over 20 years. He would be my position coach out there. He came down Monday and visited with me at school and it's just a great opportunity to play. They are probably losing 4 receivers and it would be a good situation."
Florida: "That's the home town. I love the atmosphere and I love Florida. I really do. I love the program and I've always dreamed of coming out the tunnel. I know a lot of players on the team and it would be an easy transition."

Melvin admits he may be thinking of ending his recruitment early.
"I'm thinking about committing. It's seriously on my mind. I love recruiting but I think I may want to get it over. Right now I'm just enjoying it."
Despite official visits already scheduled for West Virginia and Iowa, it appears now as if the Santa Fe HS product will not take those trips.
"I'm not going to West Virginia this Saturday and I doubt I'm going to Iowa either. I'll still visit North Carolina State and Florida but that will probably be it."
Patterson knows that the longer he waits, the more likely that depth charts will fill up. He says he's not concerned with that however.
"I don't care about who is going where. I'm a competitor and I will battle anyone. I don't look at who's signing where and all of that. I will have my head on straight and work hard."
