COS Update + Brent Schaeffer Video

College of the Sequoias quarterback Brent Schaeffer was recently named to the JC Grid-wire First-Team All-American Team. We have an exclusive update on Schaeffer's recruitment and highlights from his 2005 season.

Name: Brent Schaeffer
Hometown: Deerfield Beach, FL
Junior College: College of the Sequoias
Position: Quarterback
Vitals: 6'3/195/4.5

Pack Pride checked with College of the Sequoias assistant coach Andy Siegal for an update on star quarterback Brent Schaeffer, and coach Siegal confirmed that the five-star quarterback prospect will be visiting NC State this weekend.

"Brent is visiting NC State this weekend," Siegal said. "He is going to Wisconsin next weekend, Ole Miss on January 13th, and is in the process of setting up an official visit to Florida."

NC State recruited Schaeffer in 2004 after he completed a stellar career at Deerfield Beach High School in Deerfield Beach, Florida, but he elected to ink with Tennessee on signing day.

This summer he transferred from Tennessee to College of the Sequoias, where he had an oustanding season. Schaeffer earned MVP honors and was recently a unanimous First-Team JC Gridwire All-American selection. Schaeffer totaled 49 touchdowns and nearly 3,750 yards of total offense in his only season at the junior college. In 11 games, he passed for 2,972 yards and 40 touchdowns while rushing for 787 yards and another nine scores.

NC State is also recruiting two of Schaeffer's main targets, COS wide receivers McIntosh Nicolas and Darius Passmore.

"Nicolas is 6-foot-3, 194-pounds and has been timed at 4.3 in the 40," Siegal said. "He signed with Florida out of high school. He is being recruited by Nebraska, UNLV, NC State, UCF, and Houston.

"He is one of the fastest players I have ever seen. (Former Florida head coach and current Illinois head coach) Ron Zook said that he is the fastest player he has ever personally timed. He clocked McIntosh at a 4.25 when he was in high school."

"Passmore is 6-foot-3, 180-pounds and has been timed at 4.35 in the 40. He is being recruited by Wash State, NC State, San Jose State, and Houston."

Nicolas missed much of the season with an injury, but the former four-star recruit considered the Wolfpack out of high school before inking with Florida.

Passmore, a track champion, caught 38 passes for 871 yards and 13 touchdowns. He averaged 22.9 yards per catch while earning first-team all-conference honors.

Pack Pride will have more on Schaeffer's recruitment following his official visit and will have updates on Nicolas and Passmore in the near future.
