Richard Washington Breaking News

TSW caught up with 2002 gridiron signee Richard Washington to check his progress on qualifing for admission to NC State.

With the 2003 recruiting season well on it's way, it is easy to lose track of a few prospects from the 2002 class that were working on qualifying following signing day. TSW caught up with Richard Washington to check on his progress to gain admission to NC State.

The news from Fort Myers according to Washington is very good. "I got the needed scores back last week for qualifing and I am real excited about going to NC State" Washington said, "I am ready to contribute and I love the idea of me playing for the Wolfpack". By achieving the qualifying scores it should end the speculation by some that Washington might not ever suit up for the Pack.

He and the Pack coaching staff are looking to his arrival in Raleigh with enthusiasm. Richard said "Coach Amato and Coach Demarest have been in contact and told me that they are looking forward to getting me in Raleigh. I was planning on going up in August, but now I may get up there as early as July 12".

Some have said that Richard Washington is the best player to come out of Fort Myers, Florida since Deion Sanders. The battle for Washington's abilities was a fierce one with Ohio State going into signing day with a commitment. But when the fax was sent, it went to Raleigh for one of the major surprises of the day.

Richard has been running track this spring and turned in a personal Best in the 40 with a 4.39. He will play Wide Receiver and he told TSW that he is looking forward to working with Coach Holliday.
