N.C. State freshman Brandon Costner is not expected to play in Saturday's basketball game against Appalachian State because of soreness in his upper left leg. Costner, a 6-foot-8 forward, did not play in the Wolfpack's Nov. 30 loss at Iowa, and a recent MRI exam confirmed that Costner was at risk of suffering a stress fracture in that leg, State's sports information office said Tuesday.
