Wright: 'I'm Keeping My Options Open'

Linebacker Matt Wright is a huge NC State target and he talks with Pack Pride about his top schools, upcoming official visits and what stands out with the Wolfpack.

Linebacker Matt Wright says he's looking to play for a defensive-minded program "like NC State." How high is the Pack on his list?

"They're up there, even at the top of my list with several others. I like them, Virginia Tech, Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina and South Carolina. I wouldn't say that any of them have an advantage. I'm keeping my options open."

The 6-2, 210-pound prospect from Phoebus High School in Hampton, VA has good speed and plays with tremendous intensity.

"I've taken one official visit to Maryland and I had a pretty good time up there. I saw what they were all about. I still have visits to South Carolina (January 6), NC State (January 13), Virginia Tech (January 20) and Virginia (January 27).

"After those visits I think I'll be just about ready to make a decision. I should announce something the week before signing day."

What does Wright like about NC State?

"First I like the fact that they've been recruiting me so hard. All the schools I'm looking at have offered, but they've gone out of their way to let me know they really want me. Plus I know it's a defensive-minded team down there. I wouldn't mind being a part of a team that relies on its defense like NC State."
