Gary Gregory is a mammoth OL prospect from Apopka (Fla) High School that has emerged on the NC State radar recently. The talented lineman is being recruited by the likes of New Mexico, Wake Forest, Kentucky and others but had a chance to see the Wolfpack up close and personal this past weekend. Pack Pride caught up with him to see how the trip went.
"I was hosted by Julian Williams," said Gregory. "The visit went real good and I had a lot of fun. It was exciting. I just liked the campus and the football stadium and I really got along well with the players.
"State didn't offer while I was up there. They told me they're recruiting 10 offensive linemen and have five scholarships open. They're waiting until three other kids visit next weekend and after that, I'll know what they're going to do. Coach Barry likes me but I know I just got to be patient. He's coming by to see me Thursday.
Gregory will make an official visit to New Mexico next weekend. However, it would appear that a Wolfpack offer could go a long ways toward landing Gregory in Raleigh next year.
"NC State has always been in the front," said Gregory. "I could definitely see myself there. Now, I gotta go see what New Mexico's about."
