"I talked to Darin and he is going to sign with North Carolina State," said South Dade head coach Don Drinkhahn. "He and Jevon have committed to coach Amato.
"I think it's a good decision. We've had Marcus Hudson up there and he's done well for himself. Coach Amato does a great job recruiting and has really built a strong program. I think they are happy with their decision and happy to have an opportunity to go there.
"Darin is one of the best players I've coached. He can play receiver, safety... he can do a lot of things. He has intangibles and is just a great player.
"Both he and Jevon are great kids that want to make plays late in a ball game. I think both of them are ready to play at that level."
Darin Baldwin is the 14th known commitment in the class of 2006 and joins teammate Jevon Walker as a Wolfpack commitment.
The three-star prospect is rated the No. 28 cornerback in the country by Scout.com. He chose the Wolfpack over offers from Florida, Florida State, Auburn, South Florida, and Central Florida among others.
Early in the recruiting process he narrowed his list to NC State and Florida, but after an in-home with Wolfpack head coach Chuck Amato, he decided to cancel his trip to Florida.
Stay tuned for more from Pack Pride on Baldwin's decision as we will talk to the standout cornerback tonight!
