After visiting South Florida, Homestead (FL) South Dade standout Jevon Walker mentioned that he was considering the Bulls although he had committed to NC State. It now appears he is no longer a soft verbal and is committed to the Wolfpack.

"Jevon is committed to NC State," said South Dade head coach Dan Drinkhahn. "He has committed to coach Amato and will be playing up there in Raleigh."

Coach Drinkhahn considers Walker a vastly underrated prospect who can excel at the next level. A teammate of Darin Baldwin, Walker impressed his head coach with his play as a senior.

"He can play on that level without a doubt," said Drinkhahn. "Jevon is a very, very good player. He is underrated in my opinion, and I think that is because we moved him around so much on defense, but that is because he can help in a lot of ways.

"We played him at linebacker and even defensive end but I think he'll be a strong safety at North Carolina State. He's a very mature player who I think is just as good as Darin, and Darin has picked up a lot of big-time offers in the mail.

"Darin had big sophomore and junior seasons, but Jevon really came on this year for us. He's a player."

A first-team All-Dade selection, Walker tallied more than 100 tackles as a senior.
