Pack Lands Key Wide Receiver Commitment

Pack Pride has the scoop on NC State's latest football commitment.

NC State secured their 16th verbal commitment for the class of 2006 last week when WR Donald Bowens from St Petersburg (Fla) High School made a pledge to the Wolfpack. Pack Pride caught up with Bowens for the latest.

"Yeah, I'm committed to NC State," said Bowens. "Actually I committed last week when coach Amato came to see me. The thing I like there is playing time. I think I could come in and make a definite impact."

This weekend, Bowens made an official visit to Virginia and came away with an offer from the Cavaliers.

"That visit was pretty cool. The coaches were nice and seemed like they were down to earth."

While Bowens said he is committed to the Wolfpack he will still take an official visit to South Florida next weekend.

Bowens is a 6-3, 195 pound wideout with 4.6-second speed in the 40-yard dash. He has been rated a three-star prospect by Scout.com. Bowens was being recruited by NC State wide receiver's coach Dwayne Dixon. He also received offers from Indiana, Rutgers, Louisville and Nebraska.
