NC State has three major in-state prospects remaining on the recruiting board. OL Hutch Eckerson, WR LaMarcus Bond and RB Josh Adams are all key targets for the Wolfpack staff with Adams making an official visit to State this past weekend. Pack Pride caught up with the three star back after his trip to Raleigh.
"It was nice," said Adams. "Andre Brown was my host. It was a lot different being able to spend 40 hours on the campus and that was a big difference compared to just coming over for a game. I enjoyed that part, being able to see that side of it and the social side of it as well."
Adams also got a chance to spend some time with head coach Chuck Amato. While NC State boasts two talented RB's in Toney Baker and Andre Brown, Amato made it clear to Adams that the staff feels, he has the talent to see the field, possibly in a variety of roles.
"Coach Amato really stressed academics with me," he said. "He also told me not to shy away from competition and I'm just as good as those guys were coming out of high school. He told me just to fight hard and I could get on the field whether it be as a receiver, running back or whatever.
"I still look at myself as a top running back and I'm just as good as they were in high school. It's all about competing for me. I know State is trying to get all their players on the field."
Adams has now made trips to NC State, Maryland and Wake Forest. Insiders believe Wake Forest to be the team to beat but, for now, Adams will sit back and evaluate his final three options.
"I really haven't got to a point where I've set a timetable or anything," said Adams. "I'm done with my visits and now I'm going to weigh the positives and negatives and figure out what's going to be best for me."
Adams is rated a three star prospect by Scout.com.
