Much speculation has been swirling around offensive/defensive lineman Jason Kates and where he'll attend school. What programs are still in the mix?
The 6-3, 320-pound versatile lineman from Bishop McDevitt High School in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania has had Michigan at the top of his list for a while, but beyond that not much has been consistent.
"I'm looking at NC State, Syracuse, Michigan and Minnesota," said Kates. "I'd say Michigan and Syracuse are at the top right now, but I'm looking at all four."
Coach Amato had an in-home visit with Kates on Tuesday, and Coach Lloyd Carr of Michigan was also scheduled to have an in-home with him this week.
"Of the four schools I'm listing the only one I didn't visit was NC State. I just didn't have time to do everything, but I think I know enough to make a decision soon."
So when will Kates announce his college destination?
"I'm planning on making my decision in the next few days," he said. "It will probably be sometime this weekend."
Kates has offers from the likes of Notre Dame, Penn State, NC State, Michigan, Minnesota, Michigan State, Syracuse and others. He was named to the first team 4A all-state team by the Associated Press.
