There were extended moments in the first half of N.C. State's 71-68 ACC basketball loss Sunday to Georgia Tech in which the Wolfpack, not the Yellow Jackets, looked like one of the country's most inexperienced teams. Even when 16th-ranked N.C. State righted itself after that 15-turnover opening half, it wasn't enough to keep the struggling Yellow Jackets (10-12, 3-8 ACC) from breaking an eight-game losing streak, their longest since 1981. Sophomore reserve guard Zam Fredrick scored a career-high 22 to lead Georgia Tech, and four players scored in double figures for N.C. State, led by Ilian Evtimov's 17 points and nine rebounds. N.C. State continued to flex its offensive muscles Sunday, pounding out 27 hits in 23-3 victory over Hofstra at Doak Field. Third baseman Matt Mangini led the offensive assault with five hits and four RBI. "Having so many guys on the team swinging the bats well really helps me out," Mangini said.
