Brian Aragon went 3-for-5 with a home run two RBIs, and four NC State pitchers combined on a six-hitter Sunday as the 19th-ranked Wolfpack defeated The Citadel 6-2 in the Homewood Suites Shootout at Riley Park. NC State took two of three games in the Shootout to improve to 8-1 for the season. The Citadel dropped to 2-2 with the loss. Junior righthander Gib Hobson (3-0) picked up the victory for the Wolfpack. Hobson went five innings and allowed two runs, both earned, on five hits. He walked one and struck out four. Citadel starter Ken Egleton (0-1) took the loss after allowing four runs on six hits in four innings. He walked two and struck out five. Read More

With a simple statement, Kay Yow wrapped up what the inaugural "Hoops for Hope" game meant to her. "There's hope everywhere," Yow said, following Sunday's game, in which the Wolfpack closed out its regular-season home schedule with a 65-57 loss to No. 4 Maryland. Yow, who has been through two public battles with breast cancer, was surrounded by 7,781 spectators, which included many, many friends and former players, for the fund-raising and awareness-promoting game at Reynolds Coliseum.
