Pack Offers Walker

Wilkesboro (NC) East Wilkes offensive lineman Landon Walker has landed his first scholarship offer, as NC State offered the talented prospect at Junior Day.

"I went up to State for Junior Day and they offered me," Landon Walker told Pack Pride. "It's the first for me, and man it feels great. It feels good to get that first one out of the way.

"Coach Amato talked with me in his office. He offered me verbally and then he put it in writing and signed it too. He told me that once it hits the internet I should get a lot more offers in."

NC State is one of Walker's favorite programs, and he spoke highly about the Wolfpack.

"I feel that State is a great program," he said. "I think it's one of the best football programs in the state. They are determined to be the best, and I think they are not going to quit until they get a national championship."

Walker was one of several top in-state prospects in Raleigh on Saturday for NC State's annual Junior Day.

"I thought it was great," he said. "I mean although I have already seen a lot of State's facilities, I saw a few other things I hadn't before. It was enjoyable."

Despite the early offer from NC State, Walker isn't close to making a decision or naming a favorite.

"I would put State, Georgia Tech, and probably Clemson up there," he said. "I like all three of them."

Don't expect a quick decision from Walker, as he expects to attend several summer camps and take some more visits before deciding.

"I don't know if I will commit before the season or not," he said. "I guess it just depends on if I'm pressured with time, but I'm not in any hurry."

A two-time all-conference selection, Walker is a tall, lean offensive lineman who has the frame to add a lot more weight. He has outstanding feet, long arms, and projects as an offensive tackle on the next level.
