Sturdivant Taking Hard Look at Pack

Quan Sturdivant is one of the state's top QB/ATH prospects for the class of 2007. We've got the latest on his thoughts about the Wolfpack.

We're just in the initial stages of the recruiting process for the Class of 2007, but quarterback Quan Sturdivant has already received a lot of attention.

The 6-1, 205-pound quarterback/safety from West Stanly High School in Oakboro, NC runs the 40-yard dash in 4.55 seconds. He already holds offers from NC State and North Carolina.

"I've been hearing a lot from NC State, UNC, Virginia, Clemson, South Carolina and some others," said Sturdivant. "It's early, but it's nice to know they're already interested."

Does Sturdivant have an early favorite?

"No, it's too early for me to try to pick one or two. I'm not ready to try to narrow it down. I do think that State is very high on the list though.

"I went to Junior Day at NC State and had a great time. I love the facilities there and the coaching staff is good. Coach Amato is a real good guy and I think the program is going to be real good in the future."

The West Stanly junior isn't sure where he will attend camps later, but don't be surprised if he makes a couple of trips up to Raleigh.

"I might take a visit or camp up at State," he said. "It's definitely one of the schools I could see myself ending up at, at least at this point. I'll wait and see, but I should get up there sometime."

Sturdivant led West Stanly to an 8-5 record. They lost in the second round of the playoffs, but should field a strong team again next year. NC State and North Carolina have both indicated that Sturdivant would get a look at quarterback.
