Rising senior Pat Lazear is quickly emerging as one of the top prospects from the state of Maryland for the class of 2007. At 6-1 and 230 pounds, he has the prototypical frame of an inside linebacker.

However, he wasn't too shabby on offense in 2005, rushing for 1,200 yards and 18 touchdowns while hauling in 350 receiving yards and an additional two scores. On defense he finished off the year with 124 tackles and nine sacks and if that weren't enough, served as the team's punter, averaging 36 yards per kick.

Also one of Maryland's most versatile athletes, Lazear told Pack Pride he is ranked as the No. 2 wrestler in the state in the 215-pound weight class and plays baseball, batting .424 last year with nine home runs. For his efforts on the gridiron last season, Lazear was named to the Washington Post All-Metro team, all-county, all-state and league player-of-the-year.
