NC State went to West Springfield (Va) High School last year and secured the services of PK Josh Czajkowski. This year the Pack has made a return trip with the hopes of landing their four-star standout QB, Peter Lalich.
Last season, Springfield struggled on the field to a 5-5 record but it didn't stop Lalich from throwing for 2,700 yards and 25 touchdowns. At 6-5, 225 pounds, the rising senior has an impressive arm and has earned offers from the likes of Miami, NC State, Virginia, UCLA, Pittsburgh and Maryland among others.
The Pack recently hosted Lalich on an unofficial visit and he talked with Pack Pride about the trip.
"I was over at State on Saturday," he said. "I really enjoyed it. I saw the aquatic center and that was pretty impressive. I talked to the offensive coordinator and he showed me the plays they like to run, so, it was very nice. I met coach Amato and he's a real funny guy. They told me they can't win without a quarterback and they said they want me to be the guy."
Virginia is also hoping Lalich will be their guy and all indications point to him ending up as a Cavalier. He talked about the Wahoos and the other top schools on his list.
"I like the whole staff (at Virginia)," said Lalich. "They're great guys and I like their offense, it's very similar to NC State's- the west coast offense.
"My top schools right now are Miami, Virginia, NC State, Michigan and UCLA. I would put UVA at number one."
According to Lalich, his college decision will likely be made in May and he knows exactly what he'll be looking for when that time rolls around.
"I just want to feel comfortable with the players that are there and I want to get a chance to play."
