One of the top running backs in the region already has 11 scholarship offers and he plans on making an early decision in May. What does he think of the Pack?
"I'm going to commit on my birthday, May 28," said Maddox, who had 200 carries for 1,328 yards along with 405 receiving yards as a junior at T.L. Hanna High School in Anderson, SC.
"Right now South Carolina is my favorite, but NC State is right up there with them. Those are my two favorites right now."
The 5-11, 215-pound running back has great speed and strength and seems to just get stronger as games get into the fourth quarter and opposing defenses are worn down.
Maddox currently holds scholarship offers from Maryland, NC State, North Carolina, Vanderbilt, Clemson, Virginia Tech, Florida, Florida State, Auburn, Duke and current leader South Carolina.
"I'm looking at Florida and Florida State, along with USC and NC State," Maddox noted. "On April 14 I'm going to be visiting Florida State and then the next day I'm going to Florida. The week before that on April 8th I'm going to be at the South Carolina spring game. I'm planning on going back to NC State sometime before I make my decision, too."
Maddox attended the junior days at Clemson, South Carolina and Maryland. What does he like about what NC State has to offer?
"NC State has been a school I've liked for a while," said Maddox. "I really like Coach Amato. He seems like a great man. I like the offense that they're running now too. They feature the running back a lot more. They have good facilities, and I like the living arrangement the players have."
Maddox is sure to be heavily recruited between now and the time when he makes his decision, and in all likelihood he will receive more offers.
"Anything could change between now and then, but right now my two favorites are definitely USC and NC State. We'll see what happens after the visits though."
