The next N.C. State men's basketball coach doesn't have to be a magician, a comedian or a miracle worker. But the one thing Herb Sendek's successor has to deliver is a quick infusion of energy throughout the Wolfpack system. Under Sendek, State spent much of the past decade treading water. Progress was made, but it came at an incremental pace. By the end of the 2001 season, when Sendek's fifth team finished 13-16 and 5-11 in the ACC, State's fan base was widely divided.
