"Florida said if I come down to their camp and they like me they are going to offer. I've been talking with UNC and South Carolina too."
Howard was able to attend one spring game, as he was in Raleigh for NC State's annual Red/White game. He was impressed with the unofficial visit.
"I liked it," Howard said. "They are a powerhouse football team, and they work hard. I talked with coach Amato. He was telling me that he wants me to come to their school. I think he's a good guy. He's a very respectful man."
As it stands now, the Wolfpack co-leads with a SEC program for Howard's services.
"I've got two leading schools right now and that's NC State and Florida," he said. "My main school is probably Florida because they throw the ball a lot. I don't want to go that far and that's one of the reasons why I really like NC State."
The 6-foot-3, 185-pound standout is considered one of the state's top wide receivers, and he will be looking to showcase his skills at various camps. He plans on attending the NIKE Camp at Clemson, the Shrine Bowl combine held in Ragsdale, and he will also attend camps at NC State and Florida later this summer.
Playing in a spread offense, Howard caught 43 passes for 642 yards and six touchdowns as a junior, earning a spot on the all-conference team.
Analyst Quote: "Wide receiver Steven Howard has all the tools to be a dominant player. At 6-foot-2, 185 pounds, Howard dominated the smaller cornerbacks in the air and on the ground while creating separation on good, crisp routes while using the Michael Irvin Method of pushing off." -- Scout.com Recruiting Analyst Miller Safrit
