Pack Pride will take a weekly look at how NC State may recruit the various positions for the class of 2007 and the prospects that are currently mentioning the Pack as one of their top schools. The following should be considered a rough guide only as many factors will affect the actual numbers at each position between now and signing day next year. Based on numbers available currently, the Pack will likely sign between 22-25 players in next year's class. All information contained in this article is the opinion of the staff at Pack Pride and should not be confused as being information from the coaching staff at NC State. It is also based on information known at the current time. Several aspects of this listing will certainly change as the recruiting season progresses.

How does the Pack's early recruiting pool look: Grade B
Landing Justin Burke was huge for NC State in 2006 but they'll need to follow that up with another solid prospect or two in the class of 2007. In the early going, State has landed on the lists of several talented players but have failed to make serious in-roads with a couple of other high profile targets. The Wolfpack offered John Brantley from Ocala, Fla but he recently committed to Texas. State is also after Mike Paulus from Syracuse, NY and he would be a perfect fit in offensive coordinator Marc Trestman's offense but the Pack appears to be on the outside looking in.
Pack Pride's Dream Recruiting Class at QB....Rodney Cox and Mike Paulus
On the board and listing the Pack:
Mike Paulus ...NC State has offered but does not appear to be a major player as things stand currently. His brother, Greg, plays basketball for Duke.
Wesley Carroll ...St Thomas Aquinas High School in Ft Lauderdale, Fla is a favored stopping off point for the Wolfpack coaches. The Pack has offered and appears to be a school under serious consideration. He was to make an unofficial visit to State this week.
Rodney Cox ...The Pack has offered and leads for Cox. He is raw as a QB but his athleticism is unquestionable.
Quan Sturdivant ...Sturdivant is another dual threat QB that State has offered. Has solid QB skills but could project at another position as well. UNC and NC State lead.
Peter Lalich ...NC State has offered and one of the top dropback QB's on the east coast. State has helped it's cause over the last several weeks but Lalich appears destined for Virginia.
Brandon Miley ...Solid high school QB but will likely need some great showings during the summer camp circuit and a big senior season to earn some offers. NC State is in his top four.
Dewain Clark ...A definite sleeper prospect in North Carolina but one to watch. Had a big junior season but will need to impress at camps this summer. Grew up an NC State fan.
Logan Gray ...NC State has offered but doesn't appear to be a major player.
Tyrod Taylor ...Taylor is another player with an NC State offer but the Pack hasn't made a serious dent in his favorite's list based on early information. VT will likely be the team to beat.
