Wolfpack Offers Michigan Wideout

Pack Pride has the latest on wide receiver Taurian Washington and his interest in the Wolfpack after picking up an early offer from State.

Wide receiver Taurian Washington holds several scholarship offers and he now mentions NC State among his favorites.

"NC State got involved a little later than some other schools but I'm paying just as much attention to them as anyone else. They want guys to come in and help at receiver and they've offered, so that's enough for me to listen. I don't know as much about them as some others, but I'll learn more as things go along."

The 6-0, 170-pound receiver from St. Mary Prep School in Orchard Lake, Michigan has great hands and isn't afraid to go up for balls in traffic. He plans on working to improve his speed and agility before he moves on to the next level, but he already runs the 40-yard dash in 4.5-seconds.

"I have offers from NC State, Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State, Georgia Tech, Iowa, Purdue and a couple of others that escape me right now. Schools have definitely started to recruit me harder recently. I just want to wait and see what my options are before I start to narrow things down."

Washington listed academics, his relationship with the coaching staff and playing time as the main things he'll factor into his decision. He currently has no favorite, although in the past he has been very high on Michigan. Right now he has no plans for camps or official visits in the near future.

All the schools that have offered are recruiting Washington as a wide receiver. Washington is also a track star at St. Mary's, where he has run the open 200 meters in 21.9 seconds.

COACH QUOTE: "Very good speed and size. Taurian has very good hand-eye coordination and he goes after everything in the air. He has the speed to stretch a defense but he also isn't afraid of going over the middle to make the tough catch." -- St. Mary's Head Coach George Porritt

WASHINGTON QUOTE: "I have very good awareness on the football field. I understand coverage and I can talk to my quarterback about what the defense is giving us in coverage. My hands and my strength are good and I'm going to work on my route running and my footwork."
