Pack Pride will take a weekly look at how NC State may recruit the various positions for the class of 2007 and the prospects that are currently mentioning the Pack as one of their top schools. The following should be considered a rough guide only as many factors will affect the actual numbers at each position between now and signing day next year. Based on numbers available currently, the Wolfpack will likely sign between 22-25 players in next year's class. All information contained in this article is the opinion of the staff at Pack Pride and should not be confused as being information from the coaching staff at NC State. It is also based on information known at the current time. Several aspects of this listing will certainly change as the recruiting season progresses.

Pack is likely to sign...2-3

How does the Pack's early recruiting pool look: Grade C
There is no doubt that defensive tackle is a glaring need for NC State. The Pack signed just two over the last two years and will be looking for a minimum of two in the class of 2007. The list of interested parties isn't necessarily long at the current time so hopefully several new names will surface as the year progresses.
On the board and listing the Pack:
Kyle Linny ...Linny has exploded onto the scene over the last month and become a major target for NC State. He currently favors Clemson, but we believe State will emerge as a serious contender as time passes.
Tydreke Powell ...Regarded as the top defensive tackle in North Carolina, State has offered but faces an uphill battle against childhood favorite UNC. Teammate LaMarcus Bond was a 2006 signee for the Pack but it doesn't appear that's having much effect on Powell currently.
Marvin Austin ...Early on, State appeared to be a serious team on Austin's radar. However, over the last several months his stock has exploded and is now on just about every team's wishlist in the country. Would be the steal of the century if State could somehow pull it off.
Jasper Grimes ...Grimes is physically similar to NC State DT Alan-Michael Cash. Some may consider him a tad short but he is one of Florida's most productive defensive tackles. NC State has not offered but the Pack is in his top five.
Nick Jenkins ...Jenkins is another kid that has seen his stock skyrocket during the spring. He is now approaching 30 scholarship offers. Over 300 pounds, he's a little larger than most defensive tackles but schools are warming up to the idea of him playing defense. State has been in Jenkins' top five and will need to get him on campus this summer to help bolster their chances.
