Pack Hosting Potential Transfer

With several scholarships available, NC State will be hosting a potential transfer today. Engin Atsur will graduate and the Wolfpack is in need of landing a seasoned player to play point guard in 2007-2008.

Farnold Degand, a 6-foot-3 1/2 redshirt freshman point guard who is transferring from Iowa State, just returned from a visit to Oregon this past weekend and is en route to a trip to N.C. State on Tuesday morning, according to a source close to the Boston native.

Degand has become a hot commodity these days with his improved play practicing against Will Blalock and Curtis Stinson this past season while he sat out.

Degand, who may visit UMass later this week, also put on about 10 pounds and is now at about 170. He has already taken trips to Rutgers and Maryland.

Degand redshirted his first and only season at Iowa State. A native of Boston, Degand played his prep years at O'Bryant High School and ran with BABC on the AAU circuit. He averaged 17.3 points, 8.0 rebounds and 5.1 assists as a high school senior.

After sitting a season, Degand will have three years to play three seasons.
