Junior Video: Linwan Euwell

Defensive end Linwan Euwell didn't take long to commit to NC State, as he jumped on the offer as soon as he received it from the Wolfpack coaching staff. Here's your chance to catch the Pinetops (NC) Southwest Edgecombe star in action!

Name: Linwan Euwell
Hometown: Pinetops, North Carolina
High School: Southwest Edgecombe High School
Position: Defensive End/Outside Linebacker
Vitals: 6'2/210/4.65

Notes: Euwell performed well at the recent Shrine Bowl combine held in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Working with the defensive linemen, Euwell ripped off a 4.65 40-yard dash, the fastest among all defensive linemen, and an impressive 38 inch vertical jump, also tops at his position.

"That combine went pretty well," he said. "I think I can improve on my numbers but I did good. The combines helped a little with getting college attention, but I've had colleges talking with me ever since the end of my sophomore year."

Linwan Euwell
Hailing from Pinetops (NC) Southwest Edgecombe High School, coaches and high school football fans from the eastern part of the state know all about Euwell. As a junior, he tallied 98 tackles, 27 tackles for loss, and 12 sacks, earning all-conference and all-state honors. He was also named regional Defensive Player of the Year by the Rocky Mount Telegram and Wilson Daily News.

Euwell, who has been as timed as fast 4.52 in the 40-yard dash and 10.9 in the 100 meters, played both outside linebacker and defensive end as a junior. He committed to NC State over an offer from East Carolina and interest from UNC, Tennessee, and Georgia Tech.

Euwell Quote: "I liked their defense, the coaching staff, and the facilities. They always have a great defense and defense wins games, defense wins championships. I always liked them growing up, and State has been my favorite for a long time."

Pack Pride Scouting Report: "Just when you thought the class of 2007 in North Carolina couldn't get any deeper, along comes another standout defensive end from Southwest Edgecombe High School. Linwan Euwell has already committed to NC State and falls into the mold of Wolfpack players like Willie Young and Manny Lawson before him. At 6-2, 210 pounds currently, Euwell is somewhat undersized but has the long arms and frame that the Pack coaches seem to routinely target in their defensive ends. From his DE spot, the goal is simple for Euwell. He pins his ears back and brings it. The rising senior has tremendous speed off the edge but does a solid job of not over-committing on a play which keeps him in position to make the tackle without getting beat. Euwell tends to tackle a little high but that can be corrected with coaching. As he fills out and matures, Euwell will likely become a major contributor on the Wolfpack defense." -- Pack Pride Recruiting Analyst Steve Williams
