Richlands Honors Mario Williams

The Friends of Football at Richlands High School will host Mario Williams Day on Saturday, June 17 at Richlands High School. This event is to celebrate the 2003 Richlands' High School graduate's accomplishments on the football field as the National Football League's Top Overall Draft Pick to the Houston Texans in the 2006 Draft.

The Friends of Football at Richlands High School will host Mario Williams Day on Saturday, June 17 at Richlands High School. This event is to celebrate the 2003 Richlands' High School graduate's accomplishments on the football field as the National Football League's Top Overall Draft Pick to the Houston Texans in the 2006 Draft.

The event will kick off at 9:30 am in the Richlands High School Auditorium with a thirty-minute media-only Q&A session. Mr. Mario Williams, NC State Head Football Coach Mr. Chuck Amato, Mario's Mother, Ms. Mary Williams, and Mario's Head Football Coach at Richlands High School Mr. Kevin Wilson will be available to speak with all media who wish to attend. Only accredited media from national, state or local media outlets will be admitted. Media credentials will not be given on Saturday, June 17, any questions about media credentials should be directed to Jamie Vaughn at (910) 347-3141 x 232 by Thursday, June 15.

The free and open to the public event will then start at 11:00am at the Richlands High School Football Field with a ceremony honoring Mario. The hour-long ceremony will include speeches and presentations from elected officials and their representatives, Mario's Family Members, and individuals who have influenced Mario throughout his life both on the football field and off including NC State Head Coach Chuck Amato. Tailgating for the event will be allowed at the Baseball Complex starting at 9:30am. This property is a part of Richlands High School so no alcohol, tobacco, or glass containers will be allowed.

At the conclusion of the ceremony Mario Williams will be available to sign autographs.
