Name: Patrick Grant
Hometown: Lauderdale Lakes, Florida
High School: Boyd Anderson High School
Position: Defensive End
Notes: Notes: Grant, 6-foot-4, has a playing weight of about 215 pounds but has dropped below 200 pounds because of track season. The rangy athlete qualified for states in the 400 meter dash, and is just now starting to get back into football shape.
"The difference for me in football is my speed," he said. "I just run by opposing tackles. I know college will be a lot different but my speed is my biggest strength right now."
The talented pass rusher finished his junior season with 48 tackles, 12 sacks, and two caused fumbles. He showcased his athleticism at the Boca Raton Scout.com Combine where Grant ripped off a 4.68 40-yard time, faster than any defensive linemen and all linebackers except for one. He also posted a 4.31 shuttle and a 34.2 inch vertical jump.
He already has offers from NC State, Indiana, Eastern Michigan, Minnesota, Auburn, Colorado, Jackson State, and Rutgers. Currently the Wolfpack leads for his services.
"NC State is on top because they're coming after me hard," he said. "Both of their defensive ends left and went high in the draft. I think that's a good situation. After that, it's Auburn, Colorado, and Indiana."
