Culliver Back From Clemson

Chris Culliver, one of the top defensive backs in the Southeast, took an unofficial visit to Clemson on Friday. Was the visit enough for the North Carolina State commit to change his commitment to the Tigers?

The 6-1, 190 pound prospect traveled to Clemson for his second visit. "It was very good. We took a tour of everything. I came down with (teammates) Cedric Snead and Josh Oglesby. We got here around 12," Chris Culliver said.

Head coach Tommy Bowden spent some time with the talented defender. "I talked with Tommy Bowden one on one in his office. We talked about academics and the depth chart.

"I also got to meet with Coach Burns, coach Blackwell and the defensive backs coach. They talked about how they can compete for the National Championship."

The Clemson coaching staff made it clear that the speedster is high on the board.

"They told me that I am there number one guy. They see me as a corner or safety but want me to play safety," he said.

What was the highlight of the visit for Chris? "It would probably be talking to coach Bowden one-on-one," replied Culliver.

The Garner (NC) standout says the visit had an impact on his commitment to North Carolina State. "Yeah it changed a lot. Clemson is a very nice school," he said.

How firm would Culliver consider his commitment to State at this time? "I would say it is a soft, premature commitment," he replied.

Not surprisingly, the battle for this prize recruit will continue for many months. "It will probably last until January or the end of the season," Culliver said. "There will be other schools that offer me and I know that. I want to take some official visits too."

Another school joined the battle for this North Carolina standout Friday. "I got another offer today when I was driving to Clemson. I got an offer from Florida State. I'm not sure if I will visit them or not. We will have to see," he added.
