Name: Henry Lawson
Hometown: Charlotte, North Carolina
High School: Catholic High School
Position: Offensive Lineman
Vitals: 6'4/285/5.5

NOTES: Lawson anchored a Catholic offensive line that blocked for 4,603 rushing yards in the wing-T offense, and the program is coming off back-to-back state championships. Lawson was named to both the all-conference and all-county teams, and the 6-foot-4, 280-pound offensive lineman is looking to lead his team to another title. With his recruitment out of the way, Lawson turns his focus to winning games, and that is something he excels at. The standout lineman has never lost a game on the high school level.

"The season comes first for me," he said. "It was important to get my commitment out of the way because I really want to focus on this upcoming season. We want to get another ring.

"Everyone is in the weightroom... just trying to get better. We lost a bunch of players at some key positions, but the younger guys are stepping up... things are going to be good."

Already fully qualified with a 3.2 GPA and an 1120 SAT score, Lawson stated that he will continue to focus on his academics and is finished with recruiting. His commitment to NC State is firm and there is no need to take any more visits. Lawson considered Wake Forest and Boston College prior to verbaling to NC State.

PACK PRIDE SCOUTING REPORT: "Henry Lawson became NC State's second offensive line commitment after impressing the Wolfpack coaches during their camp held back in June. At 6-4, 280 pounds, Lawson has the long arms and frame that will likely allow him to play much bigger in college. Lining up primarily as a right tackle in high school, the rising senior is explosive off of the line of scrimmage and does a good job of engaging the opposing defender and taking him out of the play. Most impressive is the fact he goes until the whistle on every play.

"As a run blocker, his quick first step and knowledge of which way the flow of the play is going, and ends up, is impressive.

"Having run a 5.77-second 40-yard dash at the Shrine Bowl combine earlier this year, Lawson will need to work on his quickness and speed. However, he has a tremendous work ethic and the sky is the limit once he completely fills out and spends a couple of years in the Wolfpack strength and conditioning program. SCOUTING REPORT: "Make little mistake that this is a tremendous football player as well as an athlete. He does so many things to create up front for an offense that mixes up quite well, although they did run the ball much more than they passed a year ago.

"As a run blocker, his quick first step and knowledge of which way the flow of the play is going, and ends up, is impressive. Watch him fire out on any play - from either the right or left side of the line of scrimmage - and you will see someone who does not give up. A solid tackle, who could stay there at the next level.

"His strength as a run blocker is his ability to sustain after making the initial hit. He is strong enough to play many blocks off. He also stays low, which gives defensive players a tough time.

"On passing downs, he gets back into position quickly and has a sense for what direction to move the flow of the defensive rush pile. He wins nearly every battle up front.

"Pass blocking at the next level will be stronger and quicker than he is used to, and while I realize that he does play at a high level, there's a need to come off the ball on passing downs much faster.

"As far as his run blocking, he could emerge as one of the best in this current class because he is technically sound and very strong as well as knowing how to use bursts of quickness.

"This is someone who can play at the ACC level, and even if it's a Wake Forest or North Carolina State, expect him to be a major addition." -- MSLSports.net/Scout.com Recruiting Analyst Larry Blustein
