Junior Video: Russell Wilson

NC State has landed a huge commitment from Collegiate (VA) quarterback Russell Wilson, one of the top prep passers in the region. Wilson was the Wolfpack's top priority at quarterback after a stellar showing at the June individual camp. Here's your chance to catch the talented signal-caller in action!

Name: Russell Wilson
Hometown: Richmond, Virginia
High School: Collegiate High School
Position: Quarterback
Vitals: 5'11.5/185/4.6

NOTES: Wilson burst on the scene this spring at the Louisville Scout.com combine where he impressed all onlookers, including Scout.com traveling coach Tim Glanton, with his abilities. Measuring in at 5-11.5 and 185-pounds, Wilson ripped off a 4.69 40-yard dash and displayed great footwork and one of the strongest arms of all the quarterbacks in attendance.

"That kid from Virginia can play the game," Glanton said of Wilson. "All, I can say is wow."

A prolific passer on the prep level, Wilson led Collegiate to the Virginia AAA state title while posting an 11-0 record that included two wins over prep power Fork Union Military Academy. Wilson passed for 3,300 yards and 40 touchdowns while rushing for another 634 yards as 15 scores as he earned all-state, all-region, and all-district honors while being named the 2005 Richmond Times-Dispatch Player of the Year.

Wilson committed to NC State over offers from Duke and Ohio while receiving major interest from North Carolina and Louisville.

WILSON QUOTE: "NC State is a great program... it's one of the best in the ACC," he said. "They have a great coaching staff. The coaches will help me to get to the next level and help us get to the national championship.

"My parents really liked the school and the coaching staff. They like coach Amato's style. They are happy about me going there."
